OUR STORY

His Hands Outreach has been putting down roots in our neighborhood since 2013. We are ordinary people following an extraordinary God. We are striving to make Jesus real and relevant in our lives and our desire is that all of us can experience how real and present God is in our lives daily.

in 2013 a group of us who wanted more out our christian walk, prayer walked this neighborhood asking God what we should do. One week later we rented a 10x10 Garden Plot, We picnicked in the park and planned to make it a weekly thing. The very next week the city gave us the whole Garden; equal to 30 plots! At the same time we were asked to take care of the flowers at the park in which we picnicked Every Sunday. God slung the doors wide open to give us a purpose and reason to be here. For 2 years we gave away our produce, made many friends, and beautified the Park. During that time we developed many relationships with our neighbors as we set roots in this neighborhood.

Our Sunday Picnic became Sunday-Funday to the neighborhood kids who joined us. We did a short devotional, shared thankfulness and prayed together before eating and games. The kids called this their "church". Between Farming a 40 x 100 lot, distributing the produce door to door,  taking care of the flower beds and providing new park equipment we stayed very busy during the warm months. Our numbers and relationships were growing, some families from the neighborhood joined our activities, neighbors would come to the park for prayer and encouragement and we got to know the people and history of this neighborhood that many affectionately call 'Podunk'.

We were still outsiders, none of us lived there and when winter came our core group would meet in each others houses to keep the rhythm going, but we really needed a building to continue building relationships and trust; pouring into the kids and neighbors lives. We looked for a house to rent that was close to the park and within our meager budget without much luck. Then all of a sudden a for rent sign appeared on a house directly across from the park!

The house was nice and way out of our budget, but winter was fast approaching...After an impromptu board mtg. and a tour of the house we gathered in the park to pray and vote about it. The vote was a unanimous yes! Hope Grows Neighborhood Center opened in Sept 1, 2015

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

"HIS HANDS OUTREACH EXISTS TO CREATE SPACE WHERE THE BODY OF CHRIST CONNECT WITH AND SERVES OUR NEIGHBORS"

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Worshipping Jesus Christ one day a week is no way to live. We Believe that He lives and moves a breaths through us-His Body 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Our purpose is to live as Jesus lived following His example and His Spirit which lives inside us. Through Him we are connected to Abba Father and have His wonder working power living in and through us. Because of this we can shine Gods Light in Dark Places, living as Aliens in a strange land. We hang out with children, outcasts and anybody and everybody. We are intentional about creating opportunities and calling Gods people to go where Jesus would go. We believe we actually are His Hands and Feet and the more diverse and connected to the Body we are the more effective we can be as His Body; healthy and vibrant, full of life.

We believe: what we believe makes us who and what we are . . .

His Hands Outreach believes in one God revealed to us in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe God created the heavens and the earth and everything in them. He is all powerful, all knowing and ever present.

We believe in the Holy Bible, cover to cover, as the perfect Word of God.

We believe that Jesus Christ is Gods Son, the second person in the Trinity; that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary.

We believe that He was crucified, dead and buried as a sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. He descended into hell and on the third day he rose from the grave; defeating death and sin.

We believe He now sits at the right hand of God declaring us innocent because of His sacrifice.

We believe that man is a sinner by nature and by choice.

We believe all humans are created in the image of God but have muddied His image by choosing sin.

We believe the only way to enter the Kingdom of God is by grace and to be born again by confessing our sin, repenting and trusting Jesus, who took our punishment on the cross.

We believe salvation brings about visible change; through the righteousness of Jesus Christ we receive eternal life, which is a free gift from God received by faith alone, apart from any good works or merit.

We believe in a literal, eternal hell that awaits those who don’t trust in Jesus, following Him.

We believe that following Jesus carries eternal rewards.

We believe Jesus will come again personally, visibly, bodily to judge all people (those alive and dead) and set up His Kingdom.

We believe in the person and the power of the Holy Spirit. He lives inside Gods children, directing, empowering and changing us from the inside out. He works in us individually and corporately o fulfill the great commission; becoming a Disciple who makes Disciples. The Holy Spirt convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. The Holy Spirit goes ahead of us preparing the way for every encounter we face.

We believe the Church is the Body of Christ; made up of transformed individuals; not a building, denomination or an institution. Collectively we are the Church; a living, breathing demonstration of Jesus in our world.
